Fall Inspirations...

...as the temperatures are getting colder - or will be one day here in L.A. :) I love to draw my inspiration for new fall and winter pieces from nature and the changing colors of the leaves.  Check out all the amazing photos you can find on Pinterest.

This week's inspiration

This week’s inspiration comes from my search for more balance in my life.  Between my 4 year old daughter, my business, my husband and 2 crazy dogs plus one cat, I am trying to find more time for myself.

I just added some beautiful summer styles to the store.

Monday Inspiration

We are getting ready to head to the East Coast and visit my husbands family in Rhode Island.  While we are there we will be spending time at the beach and that is where I got this weeks inspiration from.  I love the nautical look with the added splash of coral.

2012 Leap Year

In the British Isles, it is a tradition that women may propose marriage only on leap years. While it has been claimed that the tradition was initiated by Saint Patrick or Brigid of Kildare in 5th century Ireland, this is dubious, as the tradition has not been attested before the 19th century. Supposedly, a 1288 law by Queen Margaret of Scotland (then age five and living in Norway), required that fines be levied if a marriage proposal was refused by the man; compensation ranged from a kiss to £1 to a silk gown, in order to soften the blow.

Growing up...

Ruby, the studio mascot is growing sooo much.  I can not believe that it has only been 6 weeks between these two pictures. I am happy that kids don't grow this fast.

The February Birthstone: Amethyst

Leonardo Da Vinci once wrote that amethyst holds the power to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken one's intelligence. Healers have been using amethyst to increase their psychic abilities and intuition for centuries. Cross-culturally, this popular gemstone was used as a symbol of peace and unification. It is also thought to evoke feelings of serenity and calmness in those who wear it.

Amethyst is often used during meditation to provide an overall sense of spiritual balance. Some naturopaths will use amethyst to help treat insomnia and sugar imbalances, and to relieve headaches.

Not all amethyst is purple, introducing:

Prasiolite - the green amethyst

The name, prasiolite has been derived from the Greek words "Prason" and "Lithos," which mean 'leek,' due to color similarities with vegetables, and 'stone' simultaneously. It is believed that prasiolite facilitates the gap between the physical and spiritual aspects of life. It attracts prosperity through strengthening the mind, emotions and will.

Thank you to Firemountaingems for the gemstone information.

2012 Color of the Year - Tangerine Tango

Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Just imagine how beautiful this color will look with one of my favorite colors: teal

A New Year...

What is the first thing you do every new year?  I usually make a lot of big plans :) and start by cleaning up my studio.  Here are some pictures from my little oasis.

I just love those little dishes I got at the WorldMarket.  They hold all the little pieces and gems I am currently working with.

The view from my work bench makes me feel like a child in a tree house.  There is a squirrel that lives right outside this window on a branch and every morning he comes back with breakfast.  I just wish I could train him to bring me coffee :)

A picture of Lina and me on her first birthday.

And there is Ruby the new Susi D. Jewelry mascot, watching over me while I work.
